Wugging: best word ever *and* charitable endeavour, thanks to everyclick.com

everyclick-logo-index.gifFridays are designed for feeling good - long lunches, shopping on the internet and other warm and fuzzy activities. And here's one you can integrate into your Actual Working Day. Everyclick donates to a charity every time you use them to search the internet. The searches themselves are powered by Ask.com, so you won't be downgrading to a sub-standard service, and you can even pick what charity gets your contribution. It works through advertising, so the money that the search engine would normally receive from clients every time their advert is displayed or clicked through, is instead donated to charity.

Wugging (web use giving) takes advantage of that fact that whilst most people would like to give more to charity, they just don't find the time when it's not integrated into their day-to-day life. So what are you waiting for? Get charitable.

I'm so glad I found your blog -- and especially this post -- because I was just wondering not five minutes ago whether any term existed to describe this type of charitable giving. Bingo! You answered my question! Did you think up "wugging"?

Hi there. Thanks for the mention – much appreciated that you think wugging is the best word *ever*!

@Bronwyn – Everyclick came up with the term ‘wugging’ to highlight our research showing most people would donate to charity if it was part of the daily activity – like searching the web.

@Hippyshopper - You’ve summed up nicely what Everyclick is about but it’s also worth pointing out that if you use Everyclick.com you can donate to 170,000 charities from global organisations like Save the Children right down to your local village school.

So far our searchers have raised nearly £300,000 for charity and its growing daily. So I would urge everyone to get wugging and help change the world one search at a time!
