Vodafone and Global Cool launch handset recycling campaign

global%20cool%20vodafone.jpgStar-encrusted green movement Global Cool has teamed up with Vodafone to give a push to handset recycling in the UK with a new campaign dubbed 'Superheroes'. The joint aim is to recycle 500,000 old mobile phones by inviting customers to bring old handsets into Vodafone stores, sparing the world an enormous chunk of CO2 and raising funds for Global Cool's projects.

The average mobile phone user in the UK upgrades their handset every 18 months. These unwanted mobiles then end up in landfill or gathering dust in drawers and cupboards across the country. This is despite the fact that a massive 90% of the materials used in mobile phones can be recycled and reused. A recent report estimated that the UK’s unwanted and unrecycled handsets are worth £1.1 billion.

If you'd like to take advantage of this new scheme, simply take your old mobile phone, batteries and accessories to any Vodafone store in the UK, today.
