Smelly brown bin? Keep it clean with a BioBag

brown%20bin%20dg.jpgHere’s a brilliant tip to keep your brown bin fresher. Last week we ran a competition to win a year’s supply of BioBags, but now we know that you can use them in your brown bin. The reality is that brown bins are gross. But, with a BioBag lining it you can keep your brown bin much cleaner, not only for your nose but for the environment as well. BioBagsare made from corn starch and biodegrade in 45 days. You still have a chance to enter our competition by clicking the link below.

The BioBag is ideal for organic waste, including garden waste and is approved by many Councils. Unfortunately, no two Councils have the same policy on what they accept in their brown bins, so if you are going to use them, check with your council first. Perhaps a friendly sign on the bin for the bin man would help too. BinlinersDirect.com, who supply the bags, say that sales of BioBags go all over the U.K. and to date they have not received any feedback to suggest rejection by bin men.

I'm not sure I get this new obsession with having clean, fresh smelling bins. It's understandable putting a bag in your kitchen bin, as it could easily put you off your food if it started to whiff, but wheely bins are kept out of doors so what does it matter if they pong a bit?

I guess what I'm getting at is the whole 'it's biodegradable/recycled, therefore it's OK' thing. All of these fancy liners have to be made in the first place and therefore they are using (IMO) unnecessary energy. I say - just let your bin get smelly. It's not going to kill anybody ;)
