Get visibly clearer skin and possibly cancer with Clearasil

20070409003_2.jpgIt's hard enough being a teenager with acne, without suddenly being told the products you're smearing all over your face could give you cancer. In the US The Campaign For Safe Cosmetics is urging consumers to demand that Clearasil clean up their act and remove potentially harmful ingredients from their products. Their Total Control Gentle Cleansing Wipes contain sodium methylparaben, which is banned in cosmetics in the European Union plus ceteareth-20 and ceteareth-12, two ingredients that are unsafe for use on injured or damaged skin - which strangely enough includes acne! Some of the other ingredients are linked to cancer, skin allergies and nervous system toxicity.

In addition to Clearasil other companies using 'dodgy' chemicals in their skincare products include Nutrogena, Oxy and Clean and Clear. You can add your name to the petition for Clearasil to clean up their act here.
