the Venturi Fetish: very limited edition green motoring

fetish.jpg

How literal do we need to get when it comes to persuading people that green cars can be sexy?

The latest mean machine is less subtle than most, dubbed the 'Fetish'. Made by Venturi, a young motor company which launched its first electric sports car at the Paris motorshow in 2004, it will be rolling out the Fetish later this month. The car will have a zero-to-60 time of around five seconds, and there's no denying that it looks cool.

However, don't get too excited just yet. Venturi plans to produce only five of the cars per year (yes, you did read that right) each with a price tag of €450,000—about six times the price of its rival, the Tesla. Can you guess what Venturi's fetish is? That's right...extreme sadism!

Venturi are an interesting company who've been around since the early 1980s, building cars that have sourced most of the their components from other manufacturers.

You can read a bit more about their history at http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=103&i=3624

Venturi have been focussing on electric cars since Gildo Pallanca Pastor bought them out in 2001.

Fifth Gear filmed a segment where they went down to Monaco to take one for a test drive, and bumped into Roger Moore who was taking one for a spin before putting down a deposit.
