Wash your mouth out with soap, no thanks!
I recently bought a tube of Colgate children’s toothpaste and perused the ingredients. I was amazed to find that it contained Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) and Saccharin – in fact I realised that almost all toothpastes contain that strong detergent SLS. I wouldn't wash my daughters mouth our with soap, so on search to find something more natural I found these. Natural and Organic Mandarin and Orange or Organic Mint Flavour with Aloe Vera flavours from Green People. They’re 100% natural, free from SLS and Fluoride. My dentist says it’s important for children to use a toothpaste with fluoride, but these natural toothpastes claim to use mild and natural ingredients to prevent damage, remove plaque and reduce bacterial re-growth (using natural un-processed Chalk and Myrrh). Cleverly, it’s non-plastic tube reduces risk of hydrocarbon or aluminium contamination since it is lined with a food-grade lacquer. It costs £3.25 for a 50ml tube.

Tom's of Maine also do a Silly Strawberry children's toothpaste that my kids have been using for years and love. It's in a metal tube and available from Sainsbury's and Waitrose. It does contain naturally sourced sodium monofluorophosphate for anti-cavity protection, and none of the other nasties.
