fish_home.jpgThe Marine Conservation Society and Marks and Spencer have joined forces to create The Fish and Seafood Bible – from the Ocean to the Table. The book, available in M&S stores from the beginning of this month, is the first recipe book to feature only fish which can be obtained from sustainable or healthy stocks. It provides consumers with information and guidance on buying sustainable seafood, plus recipes to help you cook it. MCS Fisheries Policy Officer, Dr Bryce Beukers-Stewart said: "Marks & Spencer has been recognised by MCS as the top UK sustainable seafood retailer in the MCS Supermarket Seafood League table in 2006 and 2007."

You can also find out more about sustainable fishing at Fishonline.

This is no doubt a good start but still just the tip of the fishy ice-berg. More frightening is the growing obcession for omega 3 Fish oils and fat produced industrially and wastefully on a massive global scale.

You can get essential omega 3 from hempseed and canola but not the pure DHA and EPA that you need for your brain.

The solution is DHA and EPA from Algae - grown sustainably, ethically, organically in steel tanks it actually repairs the atmosphere as it grows so probably carbon negative rather than just carbon neutral! It's even suitable for vegans.
