Green is the New Black: get green tips from Lily Cole, Giles Deacon, Peaches Geldof and more!
Is it possible to be green and glamorous at the same time? If you'd like to believe so, you'll be interested in a new title out tomorrow, featuring all sorts of tips on how to enjoy a fun and stylish life without wrecking too much Liz Hurley style havoc. I'm someone who normally runs a mile at the word 'celebrity' so was surprised when this book proved a good read!
Green is the New Black by Tamsin Blanchard has tips on everything from eco friendly holidays to recycled wedding attire. I like the attitude behind the book, which is honest about which products are 'not worth looking at' for anyone who considers style an important issue, which is far more realistic than expecting everyone to convert to wearing handmade moccasins overnight.
It's also beautifully presented, practical and very readable, and what I found particularly useful and informative were its lists: you'll find lists of high street stores and what they've done (or haven't done) for the environment and fair trade, lists of celebrity sinners and winners and even lists of questions to ask yourself while you're shopping.
If you're into making your own, there's a great guide to DIY style, with advice on how to make your own unique, recycled clothing and accessories, from hip designers including Tatty Devine. The book in hardback form is usually 14.99, but there's a great offer at Amazon to buy it for £6.75. Go on - it would make a great present!
