Celebrate Organic Fortnight with the Wildlife Trust
As you will probably know Organic Fortnight takes place from 1st to 16th September, and to celebrate this the Wildlife Trust are putting on a number of events across the country. They have compiled a Top 5 list to get you started. You can read them all after the jump...
• Enjoy an organic treat:
Visit the Reflections café in Attenborough Reserve Visitor Centre, run by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. The menu is based around organic, local and fair-trade produce and is open 10am – 5pm weekdays, 9am – 6pm weekends. For more information, log on to www.attenboroughnaturecentre.co.uk/cafe.htm.
• Take a guided walk on an organic farm
Go on a guided walk around an organic moorland farm with Cornwall Wildlife Trust on Sunday 2 September. Venue: South Penquite Farm, Blisland, Bodmin Moor from 2pm – 4pm. Booking is essential. Tel: 01208 850491. For more information, log on to www.cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk/events/events.php.
• Have some family fun!
Why not visit Foxburrow Farm in Suffolk on Sunday 9 and Sunday 16 September when Suffolk Wildlife Trust is running Foxburrow Festival Family days with activities, crafts and refreshments. • Sample ‘nature’s harvest’
Learn about the uses made of the hedgerow harvest - since ancient times - with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust on Wednesday 12 September. Food doesn’t get more organic than this! • Go wild in the garden!
Get in the spirit of Organic Fortnight by doing some wildlife friendly gardening. Doing just one thing in your garden, like building a bee hotel, can make a difference to wildlife.
