BAA (kind of) wins its bid for injunction against protesters

campforclimateaction.jpgBAA has won its court battle to get an injunction, which will prevent certain environmental activists from protesting at Heathrow. Due to wide criticism the injunction is not nearly as far reaching as BAA had originally intended, banning only four individuals of the anti-aviation organisation, Plane Stupid, from going near the airport. Most of the protest groups involved in the planned week-long Camp for Climate Action demonstration will still be able to use roads and public transport in the vicinity of Heathrow.

The Camp for Climate Action demonstration will involve thousands of people assembling near Heathrow, from August 14th – 21st, for eight days of low-impact living, debates, learning skill ands high-impact direct action tackling the root causes of climate change. Heathrow was chosen as the appropriate location because it allegedly results in 31 million tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, is the world’s busiest airport and a greater source of CO2 than most countries. Heathrow’s planned third runway will exacerbate the situation even further.

I’m glad that Heathrow failed in their endeavour to impose a more widespread injunction. I see their attempts to stifle the protest as an infringement of civil liberties.

Although of course it would have been great if BAA totally lost their case, atleast the injunction won't stop the Climate Camp.
I am still slightly confused as to what the injuction involves. Will the 4 named people not be allowed to go to the camp and is there going to be any affect on everyone else at the camp (eg. some restrictions on where they are allowed to go)?
