The Swindle of the Great Global Warming Swindle: New findings challenge bogus claims

global-warming.jpgMany of you, like me, probably watched the Channel 4 programme The Great Global Warming Swindle with a sinking heart. Its claims, that sunspot activity were causing the recent changes in global temperature seemed plausible; they claimed they had the evidence. If they were correct then this would prove the death knell for many efforts to save energy, even though cutting carbon emissions is only a part of the reason for doing so.

[via the Guardian]

The programme caused one of the most vociferous discussions I have ever seen on several online forums I regularly visit. The arguments, links, research citations and personal insults flowed freely back and forth and I didn’t know what to think.

Now, Professor Mike Lockwood, a physicist at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the UK has carried out a new study specifically to challenge the claims made in the programme and, in results due to be published on Tuesday in a Royal Society journal, he claims to have proved definitively that solar activity is completely unrelated to recent global warming.

The programme, which seems to have done a lot to cast doubt in popular opinion on man’s role in global warming, seems now to be completely discredited as Professor Lockwood’s study relies on real data, not computer simulations. With other scientists from most world nations now backing the hypothesis that human activity is increasingly to blame for the recent rise in global temperature, hopefully the public and political impetus will now be 100% behind the effort to reduce, reuse and recycle and generally be a little more respectful of the world’s rapidly diminishing resources.

sun is the main factor for global warming. the others are lie

I've been keeping track of the studies that look at the solar influence on global warming. Mike Lockwood's study is just the latest in a series of studies that show unequivocally that solar variations have contributed at most a tiny fraction of the global warming over the past 30 years. A few others include:

* Foukal 2006 concludes "The variations measured from spacecraft since 1978 are too small to have contributed appreciably to accelerated global warming over the past 30 years."

* Scafetta 2006 says "since 1975 global warming has occurred much faster than could be reasonably expected from the sun alone."

* Lean 1999 concludes "it is unlikely that Sun–climate relationships can account for much of the warming since 1970".

* Waple 1999 finds "little evidence to suggest that changes in irradiance are having a large impact on the current warming trend."

* Frolich 1998 concludes "solar radiative output trends contributed little of the 0.2°C increase in the global mean surface temperature in the past decade

You say it yourself, "If they were correct then this would prove the death knell for many efforts to save energy, even though cutting carbon emissions is only a part of the reason for doing so." this totally reinforces what I have always believed. People support kyoto because it "forces" others to live a greener lifestyle. The fact is and time will prove this, Co2 ommissions play an insignificant role in all of this. The sun (regardless of what scientists hell bent on proving the theory wrong will say) is the real driver behind it. I laugh as people always condemn theories "supproted by the oil companies" when the "enviornmental drive" is a very powerful body in itself and funds and supports all the scientists who support their agenda.

Dont worry us "Naysayers" will be proven right.

Having said all of the above I do agree we as a race should not be wasteful the problem is people are forcing us under a false cause rather than encouraging and incentivising us. Its the school teacher syndrome, and you will never get people to follow when thats the case. Plain and simple.

Remove import duties completely from hybrid cars, provide free public transport, sponsor rail travel so its vastly cheaper than air, provide daily recycling rubbish pick up, develop broadband speeds to allow us to work from home and supply heavily sponsored by govt.....list goes on and on,

I want to live in a clean enviornment but not one created by a false global hypocondria based on lies, but rather science, technology. The most amusing thing is its the USA leading the cause in that respect with their technology drive to create cleaner technologies. At the end of the day they will make more difference than any trading scheme will.

Look at this scientific presentation
Undeniable evidence that the sun is to blame and whats really interesting.. the earths temperatures peaked in 1998 and are about to plunge..

Dr Lockwood says that if there was a lag 'begin to see the rise in global temperatures slowing down' RE:http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/story/0,,2123447,00.html
Which is what we have seen since 2000 http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/hadleycentre/CR_data/Monthly/HadCRUGNS_3plots.gif.

To Surgest this thesis is woung is to not look at the evidence. Which if you look here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Solar-cycle-data.png
You'll see total irradiance stayed the same.

You said it yourself:

"Many of you, like me, probably watched the Channel 4 programme The Great Global Warming Swindle with a sinking heart."

A sinking heart? But why? If your claims of human-induced global warming are true, they should stand up to any test put forth.

The truth is, your blog entry proves that you must use this so-called future catastrophe to control the population's habits, and if the model of human-induced global warming is false, you must find another way to force others to act in a way that agrees with your "environmental morals".

As a Christian, this would be like me showing that premarital sex causes many of our societies ills (which it does) so therefore the world must force people not to have premarital sex. Although I could very easily prove that premarital sex and illigitimacy are ruining America, I would never be so arrogant to attempt to force people to stop having premarital sex. So, I would encourage you to stop forcing your environmental religion on the rest of us, especially by attempting to 'trick' us with bad science and visions of a world ablaze.

It's not about religions, WAKE UP & smell the toxins! - Not everyone is indoctrinated into that stuff, & blindly go around cutting down billions of trees, especially on Xmas day, just to put them in your house for one day! - If you want to be around a tree, altar boy, GO OUTSIDE! - And if you wish to keep your head in the sand, & think that we are all gullible people thinking it's the apocalypse, when that was included in bible because they planned to desroy the planet, & then blame it on us... - And when we all die because of this ignorance, at least people like you will go down too. It has NOTHING to do with Morals... - It's about COMMON SENSE! - And scientists warned of global environmental climate changes decades before I even knew who al gore was. - He's just one of them eho are using it to get a NWO.
