Thought you couldn't recycle Tetra Paks? Think again...

tetra_pak.jpgTetra Paks (those things that contain your 'green' organic smoothie) are notoriously difficult to recycle, and until this week, I was none the wiser on how to dispose of them.

But reading up on the activities of Betsy Reid, a lifelong adherent to eco-friendly living, it came to light that Tetra Paks can indeed be recycled, and soon our local authorities should be handling this in the same way they deal with paper and glass. There's a list of locations in the UK where collections are already taking place on Tetra Pak's own website.

What if your local authority is taking a while to catch on? Well, with the help of Mr Postman, you can now recycle drinks cartons quite easily, although there may be a small cost involved for postage. You can print out labels here, to stick on your used Tetra Paks and send them for recycling at a plant in Somerset. [Via Greenliving UK]

I live in Mallorca and they have been recycling tetra paks for some years. We have one container for tetra pakes, plastics and tin cans and there are recycling points in every town.
