A new concept: Eco-vandalism

MSNBC_Hummer.h2

Could this herald the start of eco-extremism? A Hummer owner in Washington D.C. got a nasty surprise when two masked men attacked his car, breaking all the windows and slashing every tire. As a final flourish the vandals scratched "FOR THE ENVIRON" onto the side of the car.

The Hummer's owner, 32 year-old Gareth Groves, has received little sympathy from his neighbours. Many of them are actively opposed to Hummers and the neighbourhood is packed with more eco-friendly hybrid cars. One neighbour said: "The neighbourhood in general is very concerned with the environment. It's more liberal leaning. It's ridiculous to be driving a Hummer."

A friend of Groves claims that many of the people who have come to inspect the damage are clearly not Hummer fans: "I'd say one in five people who come by have that 'you-got-what-you-deserve' look."

Despite their controversial reputation the gas-guzzling Hummers are still seen as a status symbol by many. Although, it seems that in one leafy suburb of Washington at least Hummers are definitely not desirable.

People like this are a direct cause of why I am a skeptic of human-cause global warming. If humans really did cause global warming, then these people should attempt to educate through persuasion, not through bullying.

The incivility is disgusting.

And I'm sure that the driver felt so bad about it that he didn't go out after-words and buy 4 brand new tires. good job guys.
