How green is Harry Potter?

harry%20potter.jpegFollowing the eagerly-awaited publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows or the final Harry Potter book as most people think of it, I had to ask, how green was Harry Potter? Given that so many copies are being published, have they made any environmental concessions?
It appears that they have. It was reported a while back that the US publishers, Scholastic, have teamed up with the Rainforest Alliance to ensure that each 784-page book is at least 30% recycled paper. Even better than that, the 100,000 copies of the deluxe edition will be entirely made from recycled paper.

Other countries have been greener than the US, with the British edition published entirely on “ancient-forest-friendly paper” according to Bloomsbury Publishing and previous Harry books also utilising varying percentages of recycled pulp in various European countries.
