Leading British bakery chain Greggs has announced that it has saved £12,000 pounds through recycling its waste plastic. Greggs teamed up with plastics recycler Cromwell Polythene and recycled all their waste plastic from packaging. The waste plastic was turned into bags and sacks, some of which were then used by Greggs - making the initiative an example of "closed loop recycling".
Greggs have been rewarded for this and other waste reduction initiatives with a major commendation at this year's Business Commitment to the Environment Awards.
