Crazy weather or global warming?

flood5.jpgThe last week has seen a dramatic change to the expected weather for the time of year, both in the UK and across Europe. Over here we have had severe rainstorms and flooding. There were two months worth of rainfall in just 12 hours last week. While in southern Europe, there has been a heat-wave, causing over 120 wildfires in Greece and claiming at least 49 lives. Even Paris and Berlin reached temperatures of 39C, and they are hardly on the south coast are they?

The extreme weather conditions are set to continue this week. All of this extreme weather is bringing global warming to the fore. There is no firm evidence that global warming is causing this weather pattern, but climatalogists suspect the rise in the Earth’s temperature is behind it. If global warming is the cause of this freakish weather we are experiencing, then it can only get worse, as there seems to be a lack of political will to action the kind of changes needed to stop the rise in global temperatures. If only words could stop global warming, our political leaders would have solved the problem ages ago.
