Volunteer on an Earthwatch expedition
If you are bored of going on a regular holiday and want to give something back to the earth whilst you are on your travels, it might be worth considering volunteering on an expedition with Earthwatch. You will be giving up your time to scientific field research or conservation projects in one of 50 countries around the world. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to help out.
You could band penguins in South Africa, tag endangered sea turtles on Pacific beaches, measure snowpack density on the frontlines of climate change, help establish a conservation strategy to protect crocodiles and humans at the Zambezi river, or map water supplies in northern Kenya. These trips are more than just holidays, offering you the opportunity to improve people’s lives and help animals and the environment.
Earthwatch recruit around 4000 volunteers every year to collate data in the fields of rainforest ecology, wildlife conservation, marine science, archaeology and more. To join an expedition, take a look at the Earthwatch website.
