Switch it all off with Ecoelectrical’s smart adapter

ecoadapter_main.jpgThis slightly bulky-looking adapter lead is the latest product on the market that's designed to make switching appliances off less effort.

The Auto switch-off extension lead from Eco Electricals will take up to seven appliances, which is probably more sockets than you'd normally find in an average room. Once these are plugged in, they can simply be switched off at once, using the buttons on the front panels.

Unlike the similar product Bye Bye standby, the auto switch-off does not come with a remote control handset, which could make it awkward if your sockets are in an awkward-to-reach location, However, the advantage of this is that you can't lose the remote, and end up unable to operate your electricals without unplugging everything and starting again (which has happened to me on more than one occasion!) It's less sophisticated than the Bye Bye Standby, in that you can't program it to switch 'groups' of appliances on or off at a time, but this also makes it a lot simpler to use.

If this sounds like a nice, straightforward solution to you, you can pick one up for £16.99 at Eco Electricals. [Via New Consumer]

Has this product passed British Standards and if so what are they?

Is it RHOS compliant?

What due dilligence have you (the writer of the review) performed to establish the safety of this product?
