Celebrate the solstice at Stonehenge
For those of you who are thinking of celebrating the summer solstice in style at Stonehenge this year, check out English Heritage’s webpage of instructions for a peaceful experience.
As we probably all know, these celebrations have in the past been marred by violence, littering and lack of respect for the stones, so English Heritage now operates fairly strict instructions for opening times. Sunset is on Wednesday 20th June at 9.26pm and sunrise is on Thursday 21st June at 4.58am and access is allowed between 8.30pm on the Wednesday evening and 8am on the Thursday morning. See English Heritage’s webpage for instructions and carpark opening times. Enjoy this most magical of times but remember, take nothing but photographs and leave nothing but footprints!
