Government site reveals your carbon footprint online
If you've ever wondered what the government would have to say about your carbon footprint, now's the time to find out. UK Environment secretary David Miliband has launched a new website that allows people to calculate their carbon footprint; It uses Government-recognised data to work out a personal calculation or one for a household.
The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs said it means people can reliably calculate their carbon footprint from home energy appliances and transport. The calculator then develops a personalised action plan for users, with steps they can take to cut their emissions.
Mr Miliband worked out his own total, 2.76 tonnes, in eight or nine minutes on the website. This is well below the national average of more than four tonnes. "I came out better than I expected," he said. If you'd like to see how you compare with the Environment Secretary, the calculator is available to use here.

Mr Miliband failed to include his work in the calculation, so is his 'below average footprint' really accurate? Hmmmmmm.
