Apple back in Greenpeace's good books as Greener Electronics Guide published

Greenpeace has just brought out its fourth Guide to Greener Electronics, in which we learn that Apple's hard work to become greener is beginning to pay off.

Apple was ranked bottom out of all manufacturers in last year's guide, but has made the biggest jump of any tech company this year. Nokia, meanwhile has moved into the top spot, over-taking Chinese manufacturer Lenovo, which moved into second place, tied with Dell, which is still the highest rated computer company. Sony, meanwhile, has dropped into last place.

Although Apple has only moved up one place in the Greenpeace chart, CEO Steve Jobs is credited with making the improvements as part of his 'greener apple' pledge to phase out PVC and other chemicals from the product line. One measure the firm could take to improve its carbon footprint further would be by ensuring the new iPhone is made sustainably.
