The reality of global warming
A new report from Christian Aid has indicated that potentially a billion people could be forced to evacuate their homes over the next 50 years, due to the damaging effects of climate change on the growing global migration crisis.
According to the report, development projects and endemic environmental degradation will make it impossible for millions of people in some of the world’s poorest countries to stay where they are.
There are already 155 million people who have been displaced by conflicts, large scale development projects and disasters. This figure could swell by 850 million as a result of water shortages, famine, conflicts, rising sea levels and damage to pasture land.

Even scarier reading is the most recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, which says that by 2080, anything between 1.1-3.2 billion people will be experiencing water shortages, 200-600 million will be going hungry and 2-7 million per year will suffer from coastal flooding.
If we do not act now this nightmare scenario will become a reality, if not for us, then for our children. Action needs to come from individuals and governments. We can all do our share and it needs to be more than token gestures. We should be voting with our money and supporting organisations, businesses, companies etc, that are eco-friendly.
