Considering the current abundance if eco underwear, accessories and fashion of all sorts, it's surprisingly difficult to find ethically-produced swimwear. The Catwalk Queen team were kind enough to do the research on this one, but the verdict seemed to be that there wasn't a great deal of it around! I don't know why this is; there are some perfect green materials out there for making bikinis - a bamboo bikini would be ideal - or of course, you could always knit your own with some eco-friendly yarn!
However, CQ's Zara has managed to come up with a roundup of the best green swimming costumes and bikinis available online and in the UK, pictured above. They're made from organic and fairtrade materials including hemp and cotton. Follow the jump for details...
1. Ashley Paige, a Florida born ethical designer makes a beautiful range of crocheted swimwear but it unfortunately isn't available online or in the UK. However, there are a range of stockists throughout the US. Click here to view the website.
2. Hemp wool bikini top from rawganique for $59. Very funky looking bikini top, perfect with a skirt or jeans for hot days on holiday but possibly not very practical for the beach/sea.
3. Very cute ruffle bikini for $120 by Fairies Dance. It is made from 90% organic cotton in black and orchid and is available in small, medium and large.
4. Organic cotton tankini from Natural collection, available separately. Tankini is £9.95 and the bottoms are £6.50. Available in pink paisley prints (as seen here) or Hawaiian.
