One step beyond: stars donate shoes in world record attempt

elton%20john%20shoes.jpgA campaign in the UK called One Step Beyond is hoping to raising £160,000 for charity, donate shoes to Asia and Africa, and set a world record at the same time. They’re shooting for a total of 80,000 pairs of shoes by June 17th according to the group’s website, but there are also reports that even 20,000 pairs will do, and that at the moment, they’ve already gathered 16,000 pairs from all over the country.

Even celebrities are getting involved in this project. Sir Elton John is one of the celebs who threw in a pair of shoes for the effort, donating his pair of red platforms, while Emma Thompson donated a pair of Jimmy Choos. Stephen Fry and Daniel Radcliffe responded to an appeal from Jennifer Heilbronn, a 14-year-old girl who has called on her friends and family to support the campaign. You can get involved by visiting the website, where you'll find details of all the drop-off points where you can donate your shoes.
