Loaf on down to the Village Bakery website

villagebakery.jpgIf eating organic is boring you to tears (though why it would I have no idea) check out The Village Bakery. Quite some time ago I went on the Gerson Therapy, which involved drinking vast quantities of fruit and vegetable juices, having five enemas a day (ouch) and eating a lot of potatoes and salad, amongst other things. It was then that I stumbled upon the Village Bakery, sampling the delights of their 100% rye bread with no salt added. It might sound dull to most people, but I relished my loaves of additive, wheat and yeast free bread.

The Village Bakery offer a range of breads, cakes, biscuits and other goodies, offering options such as gluten, wheat and dairy free and vegetarian. If you are looking for a sweet treat the date slices are delicious (although I swear they used to be vegan and now they contain butter, which is a bummer for vegan peeps like me).

If you are a celiac or have a gluten intolerance of any sort try the gluten free bread with linseeds. It tastes better than most of the cardboard texture, gluten free loaves, you would generally find lining the supermarket shelves.

If you are anywhere near Cumbria or planning a holiday in the region, take yourself on a trip to The Village Bakery Restaurant, one of the first completely organic restaurants to receive certification from the Soil Association.

Many supermarkets now stock some Village Bakery products, so you can get that fresh from the bakers taste, without every entering...well, a bakery.
