Your office - eco-friendly inside and out

gardenoffice.jpg

No, it’s not a shed! Step inside a state of the art garden office, designed and constructed to be eco-friendly by Inside Out Buildings. Using timber frames and chemical-free materials, the Lancashire based company builds offices and living spaces with a completely green philosophy. Their products are remarkably well thought out, taking advantage of double-glazing and full insulation to lower heating costs and energy consumption. It also makes their buildings highly sound-proof for a quiet working environment. But the main point is that it’s in your garden. No commuting, no car, no traffic, just a pleasant saunter across your lawn to get to work.

They offer the environmentally conscious home-worker with a range of pre-designed and bespoke options starting at £16 800. They also have a whole bunch of other home-extension options. My favorite being their Microlodges, a little guest house which can include bathroom and toilet facilities. Looks like outhouses have come a long way and sounds like a good place to put the in-laws when they announce a visit.

I think you might be interested in my site Shedworking and Homeworking at http://shedworking.blogspot.com which looks at garden offices/sheds, particularly in reference to homeworking. It’s a major trend in the UK to have these kinds of offices. I also produce a free bimonthly pdf magazine called The Shed which I’d be happy to send on to you all about shedworking.

Hi
I found your address on the Sustainability Blog, and thought you might be interested in a wiki that has been started in Saskatchewan (Canada). The intent of the wiki is to have teachers and students use the site to learn more about Education for Sustainable Development as well as about how to use Project Based learning to engage students in school or community projects that will contribute to sustainability.
The address is http://esd.wikispaces.com/
We used a wiki instead of a blog because we are hoping to have people edit and contribute to the informational pages, as well as post their experiences with the project. We are trying to get the word about the wiki spread around, so if you have a list of folks that might be interested, feel free to forward the address to them.

We also supply eco friendly garden buildings. Our buildings at http://www.garenberg-garden-offices.com use recycled foundations and use thick insulation and low E double glazing, keeping energy consumption low. We also have a living green roof option that encourages wildlife and helps with drainage by slowly releasing water from sudden downpours.

What on earth is 'thick' insulation?
The idea that green roos are eco-friendly is a strange once considering the amount of plastics needed to manufacuture them. i have nnot seen one that lived for more than a year or so.
