Lively fairtrade cushions from Fairwind

fairtrade%20cushion.jpgThese funky cushions, available from Fairwind, are a great example of traditional crafts being blended with contemporary style. Manufactured in Kashmir, they're an easy way to liven up your living space just in time for summer.

Fairwind sources the cushions from a Kashmir based organisation called Zaida who are committed to fair trade principles. Having realised that traditional crafts can be used to produce contemporary and abstract designs (as well as those better-known 'hippy' ones that have for too long been associated with Fairtrade) Zaida has developed a unique relationship with craftspeople in Kashmir to fuse 15th Century crafts with 21st Century design. Zaida are helping to keep traditional skills alive while providing an income for craftspeople in Kashmir.
