Harrods, the world famous Knightsbridge store, has turned greener than ever with the launch of its bespoke allotment service. Customers can hire a Harrods expert team to cultivate their personal organic paradise patch. Prices start at £1000, a steal for those of us without a Jeeves or Parker to tend to the grounds. If you don’t mind getting a little grubby you can pay £300 for a consultation on how to create the perfect allotment.
The service, available for a limited period, was launched high above the streets of London on the store’s new rooftop show allotment, thought to be the highest vegetable garden in the capital. [Jonathan Kalmus]
Food and product manager, Andre Dang, said Harrods is responding to the growing demand for places to plant our own vegetables. According to a recent report by the London Assembly’s environment committee there is a 10-year wait for London allotments. Some have found themselves number 400 on a waiting list so this sounds like a blooming good idea, proving that you’ll get more than just a green bag at Harrods.
