EarthBorn paints the planet green with Oliver Heath
A new range of eco-friendly paints was launched today by earthBorn, the award-winning eco paint company that recently teamed up with designer Oliver Heath.
The 'Eco Chic' range, which is a clay-based paint for the home combines subtle, muted shades of yellows, greens, browns and pinks, all with fun names like 'treehouse' and 'flip flop'. Heath explained that he wanted to choose colours that would form a 'good backdrop' to a working eco home rather than an overtly fashionable selection; he believes in design that stands the test of time, reducing the waste generated by constant refurbs.
The paints themselves are better for the environment and for health than traditional ones, since they don't contain VOCs - potent chemicals that have been found to trigger allergies and hormone inbalances. Having played with a pot of the stuff, I discovered that the paint doesn't give off the fumes that paints normally do, and the clay base gives them a delicate, suede-like finish. Earthborn paints are the only UK paint to carry the EU Ecolable, Europe's definitive environmental standard.
