Blood on the Moon? Not from where I was standing. Well, not through my camera, at least. I was all prepared to record the Celestial Event digitally and email the results to fascinated relatives around the world when - drattit - the batteries went flat. It set me thinking - is there an eco-friendly way I could recharge these batteries? Is the grid the only way of giving them a boost? Could I use some sort of winding gadget to get my AAs shipshape again? Tell me, Hippyshopper, can I recharge my batteries in a way that doesn't help to destroy the planet?
Well, I was only reporting what New Scientist had to say about it, and thought they were a worthy source! I thought the same as you when I saw it though - didn't think it looked very red at all...brown, maybe. It was impressive though.
But what about an eco-friendly battery charger that doesn't drain even more power from the grid? Isn't there a wind-up version like those radios I see in Robert Dyas for about £12.99 (which are also a torch)?
