Liz Hurley's wedding branded an 'eco disaster'

lizwedding1.jpgLiz Hurley may be smirking about how she escaped the gaze of the paparazzi at her wedding last week, but I'll bet it's the green posse she's wishing she could hide from now.

It has been claimed that during the seven-day celebration, Hurley and her entourage produced more carbon emissions than the average couple do in a decade, amounting to an almighty 200 tonnes of carbon for the whole shebang...

[Via Daily Mirror]

Environmental consultants Best Foot Forward assessed the impact of the wedding, taking into account the guests' journeys to the ceremony itself, their onward trip in a Learjet to India, which the consultants say emitted 82 tonnes of C02 on its 12,000 mile journey, and the waste generated by six days of partying in three different cities.

Of course, getting married doesn't have to be such a wasteful affair. If you'd like some tips on tying the knot without gaining the carbon-footprint-from-hell, why not browse our green weddings section? I bet Liz and Arun wished they had!

I know that approving of Liz Hurley may not be politically sound, but isn't all this stuff about her wedding causing so many thousand tons of pollution etc just getting out of hand? If you carry this on logically you may as well strangle all your children immediately (with recyclable twine) as they will no doubt just add to the problem through the lives. Marvellously green act – I'm sure Comrade Miliband would approve...
