I've often dreamed of escaping city life for an idyllic, peaceful existence in the country, but the practical elements of self-sufficient living tend to get in the way of actually doing it...so I was very happy to find out about Self-Sufficientish, a guide to being more self-sufficient for those who are starting from scratch.
Run by 'green twins' Andy and Dave, Self-Sufficientish currently exists in the form of a very useful web resource, but their book The Self-Sufficientish Bible is due to come out in May 2008. But there's plenty of info to get your started on their site, including recipes, natural remedies for common ailments, energy tips for homes on a budget and even advice on buying your first sheep. So, by the time the book comes out, you should be far too clued-up (or too busy!) to need it...
