Fairtrade Fortnight wraps up

Fortnight2007_webb2.gifAfter two very busy weeks, Fairtrade Fortnight comes to an end this weekend. The impact has been bigger than ever, with Fairtrade products enjoying a huge surge in popularity, as those involved in the project take stock of the change in public awareness that they've helped bring about.

Speaking to the Guardian today, Penny Newman, Chief Executive of Cafédirect expressed satisfaction at the rise in sales of her company's products, which have gone into a double-digit percentage increase as a result of the campaign. And this increase is not a temporary one: the figures were counted from last year's Fairtrade Fortnight, suggesting that it does have the desired effect of changing shoppers' attitudes all year round.

To round off the fortnight, many of the country's biggest names in fairtrade fashion will be exhibiting at Fabrica in Brighton this weekend. Why not combine a weekend by the sea in the early spring sunshine with the chance to try on some of the latest offerings from Howies, People Tree, Bam and Red Mutha?
