This morning saw two firsts from the UK government when David Miliband, the environment secretary, unveiled the draft UK climate bill.
Britain is now the first country to have begun proceedings towards a legal requirement to limit carbon emissions. The bill was also the first to be announced using a YouTube video.
Of course, the Youtube video is already up, whereas the bill hasn't yet been passed into law. It seems likely that it will be: both the Tories and the Lib Dems broadly support the bill, although they have already said they would like to see tougher targets in place than the proposed 60% reduction in carbon emissions.
