Put your right foot forward with Walk It

Walking_bridge_london If you live in London and haven't yet discovered the Walk It website, you've been missing out! Not only will it tell you the quickest way to walk from A to B, but once you've plotted out your route, it calculates the distance, journey time (based on three different walking speeds), number of calories burnt, and the amount of CO2 avoided based on what form of transport you'd otherwise use. It's enough to make one feel quite saintly.

Of course, that's not to say the benefits of walking aren't enough of a draw in themselves: Avoiding overcrowded trains, buses and tubes, feeling fitter, getting to know the city better and paying nothing for the priviledge are just a few I could mention.

If you're based outside the capital, well, you're still missing out. But it's still in testing mode, and the amount of glowing feedback on the site would suggest there's already a lot of support for the service, and plans are afoot to expand it. We'll keep you informed on developments.
