Comedian Mark Watson is 'crap at the environment'. Or so he'd have us believe; I think he's being pretty modest, having heard about his efforts to start a movement for people who are 'concerned about climate change and environmental damage, yet, until now, have been completely or fairly shit at doing anything about it.'
In his attempt to 'remove the tedium from green issues and replace them with Fun' (I like that capital 'F'), Watson has started up a Myspace page with all sorts of tomfoolery devoted to saving the planet.
The project, which was started earlier this week, has already gained a fair bit of momentum, with some exciting plans afoot: these include art installations using rubbish, a large-scale musical endeavour involving instruments made from trash; a peaceful campaign to get specific celebrities to give up their private jets, by asking them in ingenious way; a massive cycling effort powering an entire show; 'pimping' the allotments of a whole town in the North of England; and a lot more besides.
All this will culminate in a 'cult' book early next year, and of course, lots of people who were 'crap at the environment' being good at it. I wholeheartedly approve of this project, and will be keeping a close eye on its progress...
