Roll your own house with the Snail Shell System
As a person with serious allergies that make finding living quarters difficult, I could totally use a Snail Shell System. It's basically a one-man shelter, shaped like a big drum, which is kitted with rudimentary (but serviceable) kitchen gear, a foam mattress, a modern chamber pot, and so forth. A caterpillar tread attached to the outside allows it to be rolled from place to place (albeit slowly), or it can be floated along water, either attached to a boat or even paddled by itself. An additional supply station unit allows power, water, and comm lines. [GT]
