Not everyone has the access to an allotment or the time to cultivate one. That doesn't mean one can't get fresh salad or herbs, however. The Aero Garden lets you cultivate your own spring mix on your countertop with nothing more than water and mains power (which you could, if you were very clever, substitute with a solar panel - perhaps even a collection of DIY solar panels you could knock that down to totally renewable. Apparently it also grows food 5 times faster than in regular dirt; any guesses on how that works exactly? (Supposedly it doesn't involve doses of methamphetamine either - it claims to be totally organic, if a little unorthodox.) [GT]
