Free-range venison (and Ferdinand) from Red Poll Meats

Rpmbull3

Venison used to be one of the great red meat staples - when it was possible to go out in the woods and put a few arrows in a deer. (Or maybe I'm having confused flashbacks to black and white Robin Hood serials.) Now you'll have to go out of your way a bit to get it into your diet - perhaps to Red Poll Meats. Their Venison Taster Box is five kilos for £75, including a mix of boned shoulder, mince, casserole, sausages, steak and Carpaccio. If that's too big a bite, they have venison burgers at £10 for ten, or sausages at £10 per kilo. While there, you can pick up a Ferdinand the Bull dramatization on CD and expose your kids to this lovely (if oddly sad) little story. [GT]
