Review: The Complete Organic Pregnancy

I got a lot of funny looks while reading the advance proof of The Complete Organic Pregnancy, particularly from the future in-laws, but I didn't let that distract me from an enjoyable read. Dolan is one of those godawful people who once wore size 0 jeans, but on the other hand, she went up to drawstring XXL pajama pants as her new wardrobe staple and even she didn't peel all the pounds right-right off after childbirth. But on to what she says about childbirth and drugs.
Basically, she did natural childbirth (and her doula called her a "rock star" for making it through) despite that 95+% of vaginal births involve a big shot of epidural. She attributes this to her own quick post-natal recovery and how lively and brainy her infant was. The book is chummily entertaining but more like hanging with a preggo friend than it is like a manual for your own natural childbirth. Worth a flip-through if you're in the family way but sadly, not quite required reading. [GT]
