Wrapping up our peek at green architecture is Bristol firm whitedesign Projects. Projects include the Torfaen EcoBuilding, the Bordeaux Quay eco restaurant, and my personal favourite, a 900 home mixed use sustainable master plan at Ely Bridge in Cardiff.
The Ely Bridge project involves researching Wales's first biomass combined heat and power plant to provide heat and power for the entire area, developing a sustainable design code in collaboration with a pile of stakeholders from the city to the World Wildlife Federation, and building in phases so that they can come up with a system that works and can be reproduced both there and elsewhere. Given yesterday's news that emissions in Wales are going up despite attempts to bring them down, more projects like this are mandatory. [GT]
