Despite meaning well, emissions in Wales have gone up 0.2% since 1990. There appear to be some typical reasons for this - importing lambs when there are plenty of lambs at home - more people commuting - difficulty cutting greenhouse gases since, since devolution, said responsibility rests now with the assembly government. Depressing. But there's some good news from the very same place - some exciting and delightful projects at Canolfan Yr Amgylchedd - the Environment Centre in Swansea. (Thanks as always for the headsup, Ella!)
Canolfan Yr Amgylchedd has the Lammas Eco Village meeting this Saturday 27th May at 11am. Spokeswoman Hoppi Wimbush says: 'Lammas offers a fantastic opportunity for people to come together and create beautiful, highly sustainable homes and livelihoods. We hope everyone interested comes to this meeting to find out the plans so far and to share their ideas as the project is still very much evolving.' There will be a slide show presentation, refreshments and an opportunity for discussion. All welcome. Lammas, a group of 30 south west Wales residents and over 260 supporters proposes to develop a world leading low impact eco village. The development will feature a visitor centre, workshops, hostel and shop. All we need is a little less of column A and a little more of column Canolfan and Wales will be back on track to reducing emissions. [GT]

Hi Gabrielle
Yeah, its a shame about the report but we do still have the steelworks and oil refinery in Port Talbot. I think Wales is just like any other developed country with its commuting workers and importing produce. Wales is also a very beautiful country with a great wealth of organic farming and food production. We also have a number of innovative green businesses and projects. The Centre For Alternative Technology springs to mind! This is the reason that I set up my own green blog www.organicjac.co.uk, so I could focus on Wales (no offence Hippyshoppers).
By the way I previously reviewed Lammas at Hippyshopper - the eco-village planned for Wales:-

Sounds great! I'm hoping to go to the meeting myself........
