Victorian floorboard reclaims
Reclaimed Timber Specialists (now there's a name that leaves no doubt about what their business does!) is a London firm that creates new flooring out of hundred year old reclaimed hardwood. These are exceptionally beautiful floors. A lot of modern 'distressed' decor is just tatty looking, but in these cases the "knots and nail holes and 'imperfections'" really do provide gorgeous 'genuine period atmosphere'. Flooring is £10 to £35 per square meter.
Okay, they do a few things other than timber - they reclaim stained glass windows and bathtubs and other household accessories, including church pews and chamber pots. But hippy though we be around here, I personally am not quite ready for that.
