Charles Kaisin has taken newspaper and glue - and not much else - and created a true recycling of newspaper into a gorgeous and compelling new piece of furniture. This accordion bench is designed to be easy enough to build that it could be done by "an unskilled worker such as prisoners", but is layered such that it is as strong as wood. Via Treehugger.
Making these benches could be an interesting cottage industry if Kaisin published the specs on how to make them (or if some enterprising open-source type figured it out .) It looks more time-consuming than difficult, which is particularly suited to the kind of people who'd otherwise recycle clothes into quilts. It's always good to have more human-power paths to recycling instead of having to just cart the stuff out to the recycling station.
