Ecoplus 100% FSC windows, doors and solar spaces
When you're going green with your house, one of your first stops should be at the Green Building Store, either online or in Meltham in the rural Yorkshire Pennines. There you'll find natural paint, water saving WC fixtures, natural insulation, and the best windows I've seen since the Velux Cabrio.
I speak of the Ecoplus system windows, doors and bespoke solar spaces. Not only are the frames made from 100% Forest Stewardship Council wood (totally sustainable) they're designed to minimize CO2 emissions and general VOC issues. The windows are quite nice (and have given me some ideas for my own recycled glass) but it's the solar spaces that get me right there.
Their bespoke conservatories and purpose made glazed areas are built from 100% FSC European redwood and oak, with aluminum roof vents to avoid PVC. They have Ipasol glazing to reduce solar gain so the place stays cool and chipper during the summer sweats. They also all use Iplus gas-filled glazing units so the insulation quality is as fabulous as my baby - and the light is just as brilliant. (Unlike that project where, from the stars out tonight, down where they know it's not cloudy or bright, they only Cherenkov ice for ν) --[GT]
