Non-hippyshopper people often ask me how did I get into this green and ethical living obsession? First and foremost I always say the birth of my son helped me realise what's really important - a happy and healthy future. Books have also had a profound effect in my thinking and subsequent action. Here's a small(ish) list, which make great presents to get people started:
Change The World For a Fiver from We Are What We Do - 50 simple steps to make a difference (RRP £5)
The Rough Guide To Ethical Living by Duncan Clark from Rough Guides (RRP £7.99) - considers the issues, the products and the companies.
The Good Shopping Guide - the leading ethical shopping reference book (RRP £12.95)
Michael Van Straten's Organic Living - includes some fab recipes for home made beauty treatments (£13 at Amazon)
Green Living in the Urban Jungle by Lucy Siegle from Green Books (£7.95). A great starting point for city dwellers. I picked it my copy at my local Neal's Yard Remedies store, which has a good selection of books for hippyshoppers.
