Organic beer of the week: Bees

LogobeesNot surprisingly, Auntie found it takes more than a few psychological tricks to succeed in making Slough residents happy in a recent BBC2 series. So perhaps they should consider the short trip down the M4 and relocate to Swindon? There’s no need for charlatan life coaches here when the 150-year-old Arkell’s brewery is producing such a fine mood enhancer. Bee’s Organic Ale is a lovely summery drop with a pleasingly even foaminess. The honey-rich taste is lifted by a tangy residual flavour, giving a lightness that belies its 4.5% strength. Understated but very moreish. Available from Beers of Europe Ltd at £1.89 a bottle, or £22 for a case of 12.
