If you have junk that is headed for landfill or want to rescue something before it is binned then join Freecycle. The Freecycle network started in the USA in 1993 and now almost 2 million members and groups exist all over the world. It's as simple as offering your junk through local email groups. All items must be free and you must abide by Freecycle etiquette. Many charities are freecycle members and you can give them first pick if you prefer although often they cannot except electrical goods. Since being a member I have been offered a computer games console, a sewing machine and the entire contents of an office (down to the dolphin mobile) - not bad for free! If you really want to promote the idea then you can buy logo t-shirts (as pictured) from $10.50 plus postage. It really puts a new spin on recycling. [written by Ella]
