TV shopping with a difference

Comments (1)

217575TV shopping for Hippyshoppers goes against the grain - as per the Howies 'evil tv' t-shirt - but let me surprise you. QVC, for example, is a life-line to the immobile, mothers with young babies (me a while back!) and the lazy. Within its vast range of products is a surprisingly number of green gems. No, not the emeralds. For starters, it sell lots of environmentally friendly cleaning products - including Simple Green and Golden Super Soy - as well as the Zilo Smell-killer that absorbs odours without chemicals or electricity (£11-odd plus postage). The QVC folks also sell Liz Earle's fabulous natural beauty range (pictured) which we've reviewed before. All the Earle stuff smells divine - try the award-winning Cleanse and Polish hot cloth cleanser, which is £17+ as part of the face collection kit. Want more? The channel even has L'Occitane's beauty products made from natural, traceable ingredients. The company employs no child labour, eschews animal testing, uses environmentally friendly packaging with braille labelling and supports blind outreach programmes. They could take a leaf out of Liz's book and leave out certain ingredients, but they do use only controlled origin lavender and shea butter from sustainable developments in Burkina Faso - try the hand cream trio as pictured (£26.46 plus postage at QVC).
