Bill's Produce Store of Lewes in Sussex has recently opened a branch in Brighton. Housed in an old bus depot, it's the vibrant colours of the veg that catch your eye when you walk in. Exotic purple potatoes, yellow courgettes, white Aubergines - all screaming "look at me, look at me"! These are all vying for attention with locally sourced fresh fruit and veggies (many organic), exotic flowers and plants and beyond the produce is arguably the hippest cafe in Brighton. More NYC than BN, you can gorge on delicious 'deli style' food such as grilled bacon with stilton and walnut on home baked bread, or chocolate and beetroot cake (which is a revelation). Should you ever want to leave, you can take home Bill's own range of bottled sauces, pickles and jams as a reminder of this unpretentious and unique store. [written by Ian Harris]
